Garmin Forerunner 405 Wireless GPS-Enabled Sports Watch with Heart Rate Monitor Review

Garmin Forerunner 405 Wireless GPS Enabled Sports Watch with Heart Rate Monitor
I was really hesitant to purchase this product because of the negative comments on the bezel malfunctioning when it gets the slightest bit of moisture on it. I purchased my watch used on ebay for 0 and it did NOT come with a heart rate monitor. I don’t use a heart rate monitor because the data is useless to me. I don’t change my workout because of my heart rate, I know when I am working hard. The more I train the more efficient I tend to become.
I set the watch up to display 3 data fields: pace, distance, and time. That is all I care about. I don’t cycle through data fields. I don’t need to know the grade of hill when I am on it. How does that even help? I know a tough hill when I see it. I can always analyze it later. I love having extra data, but I just don’t need it when I run. I have not tried the virtual partner, but I might.
The watch bezel is VERY sensitive to moisture, yes, including sweat. If it starts going wonky because of moisture I just lock the bezel. Now, that means you can’t get the backlight on, but once again not a deal breaker. Maybe I wouldn’t be so forgiving of the watch if I paid full price… I would recommend it to a friend with the caveats I provided. Garmin connect is great. I love the mapping feature. I love you can send interval workouts to the watch (I haven’t tried it yet). However, if you love touching your watch on your run to see numerous data fields, well…. I hope it isn’t raining or your not sweaty!

P.S. My longest run with the watch has only been 11 miles (not currently training… so you understand)
